Their aim is to help people repair their bad credit so you don’t have to be restricted, just because of your credit history. By visiting the Vanquis website, you can view all of the different credit card options available to you, and choose the right one depending on your own personal financial situation. Vanquis understands that bad credit history isn’t always as black and white as people make out, perhaps you’re struggling in retirement or are on low income and expenses just keep getting higher and higher. Vanquis will assess your personal situation carefully before offering you a credit card and will also give out the relevant help and advice where necessary.

Whether you already have a credit card with Vanquis or are thinking about getting one, the Credit Cards phone line is here to help and offer you all of the information you might need. The steps include regularly using your Vanquis credit card but always staying within your credit limit, pay your repayments on time every month (always at least the minimum payment), don’t take on too much debt from other places – it is ok to be in debt but it should be manageable.

Vanquis credit cardOn the Vanquis website, there is a useful category titled credit advice and reading the information can help you in choosing the right credit card for you and your situation. There are different reasons why you might be visiting the Vanquis website, and each reason could lead you to taking out a particular card. For example, if you have previously been turned down for a credit card, you can open one with Vanquis bank that will: Give you a manageable starting limit of £150 – £1000, the opportunity for a credit Limit Increase after your fifth statement and SMS alerts to help you keep within your limit. The Vanquis credit card has a representative APR varying between 39.9 to 59.9 depending on the previous financial circumstances of the customer taking out the card. If you need any further information about how the Vanquis credit card works, or you have been rejected and you are not sure why, please call the credit card helpline and a member of the team will assist you.

Repayment Options  – 0843 557 5120

Of course, with credit cards come repayments and there are a number of repayment options available for you to use when it comes to repaying your debts. If you are confused about any of the repayment options or would like a little more information, then call the number above. Whilst you are with Vanquis, you will be helped to rebuild your credit score and Vanquis will also ensure that this credit score is protected. In order to get a good credit score, you must make repayments when they are due. The repayment option plan that is available at Vanquis ensures that you stay on top of your credit score – and don’t let it get the better of you.

The repayment option plan is definitely worth considering, there are many ways in which it can help you out including offering an account freezing service. By allowing you to freeze your account in times of financial difficulty, you will not incur any interest on your debts. Your credit rating will be protected as your account will be reported to the credit bureaux as being totally up to date. You will, however, not be allowed to use your account or card during this time. Account Freezing can be done for a maximum of two years. Another way that Vanquis helps its customers is by allowing their customers to take a ‘payment holiday’ once a year, meaning that for one month of the year you can miss your payment deadline and not have it affect your credit score. The month is totally up to you. Before you are allowed to do this, you will need to have had your card for a minimum of six months  – payment holidays do however, charge interest.

As well as payment reminders and over limit alerts, the repayment option plan’s biggest attraction is probably the ‘lifeline’ service which forgives you of one late payment fee per year and also reports your account as being in credit, to the bureaux – this is because everyone deserves a second chance and the ultimate aim of Vanquis is to help you get back on track. The repayment options plan comes at two different stages and the one that you choose depends entirely on your current situation. The two plans are known as the full plan and the standard plan – both with different pricing packages. For further information including what plan you are eligible for and the pricing options for each one, please call the repayment options contact number. Alternatively, a full list of pricing, including terms and conditions can be found on the Vanquis website.

Credit Advice – 0844 248 2419

If you are a Vanquis customer it may be because you have poor or no credit rating. Credit cards can be tricky things to understand and Vanquis wants to make sure that you are using yours correctly to avoid getting into any unnecessary debt along the way. Full advice can be found on their website and it is definitely worth reading before you take out a card if you never have before, or if you have had difficulties using them in the past. ‘Your guide to credit cards’ is a section on the Vanquis website that includes some really valuable information about using a credit card.

A Vanquis credit card is a great opportunity to re-build your credit score and learn new ways of using a credit card. Advice on the site includes ‘Myth Busting the Guaranteed Credit Card’ which helps you understand the dangers of taking out guaranteed credit cards as all is often not what it seems and a lot of these cards are not ‘guaranteed’ unless a deposit is paid and are certainly not the answer to repairing bad credit history – despite what they may have you think. Another valuable piece of advice from Vanquis is a guide on how to check your own credit scores  – which can be done easily online or by contacting the Credit Reference Agency by letter. It is important that you stay on top of your credit score as lenders will decide how much they can lend you (if anything) based on this.

However, don’t be disheartened by the so called lending ‘blacklist’ – just because one lender has rejected you based on your credit score doesn’t mean they all will. Everyone needs a little advice now and again so don’t be afraid to ask for further information or financial advice by calling the credit card advice number – if there is anything about the process you would like to question or don’t understand then don’t hesitate to ask. There is also a lot more information available on the Vanquis website such as the truth about Credit Check Cards and some warnings against unsecured credit cards.

Complaints  – 0844 248 2421

Of course, Vanquis do everything they can to ensure that you improve your credit score whilst being a customer with them, as well as being able to spend money in your own way. The Vanquis credit card aims to help those out that have had bad credit in the past and want to recover from it. If you are unhappy with a service that you received from Vanquis, whether it be something that you experienced over the phone from a Vanquis contact centre or if you have a credit card that doesn’t appear to be working. You may also feel that you have been done an injustice when it comes to late repayment fees or you may wish simply to discuss your credit card options but when you have previously attempted to contact Vanquis you have been ignored.

On the other hand, you may feel that you have been a victim of fraudulent activity  If you call the Vanquis complaints number and a member of the complaints team is not able to resolve a complaint to your satisfaction, your complaint will then be escalated to the financial ombudsman. The address to write to the ombudsman service is Ombudsman Service at Exchange Tower, London E14 9SR. It is a requirement from the Financial Conduct Authority that Vanquis (and all other companies registered with them) publish their complaints data and so if you would like to see this, head to the complaints section of their website. Please note that you will not be able to contact the Vanquis financial ombudsman unless you have already complained directly to Vanquis.
