Vehicle Tax – 0844 248 2125

If you need to tax your car there are multiple ways you can do this. You will need your reference number to tax your vehicle, you can find this on your recent reminder or last chance letter, your vehicle log book or if you have just bought a log book you can find it on the ‘new keeper’s details’ green slip. You will need to pay this through credit/debit card or through direct debit. If you do not know how to tax your vehicle or you’re having difficulties taxing your vehicle please call 0844 248 2125 to be directed straight to a member of the tax team from DVLA Customer Services. You can also call 0844 248 2125 to check if a vehicle is taxed.

SORN – 0844 248 2126

If you have taken your vehicle off the road because of damage or you’re keeping it in a garage or you do not want to drive anymore you will need to tell the DVLA that you’re taking your vehicle off the road. When you do this you will receive a refund for the remaining months of tax and you will not be able to use the vehicle until you tax it again. To immediately take your vehicle off the road you will need to call 0844 248 2126 and have the 11 digit number from your vehicle log book and your registration number on hand as a member of DVLA customer services will need it to complete this process. To take your vehicle off the road from the first day of the next month you need the 16 digit number that can be found on your vehicle tax reminder notice, please be aware that you can only use this number once. If your vehicle isn’t in your name you will need to tell the DVLA your vehicle is off the road by post.

There are many reasons you would need to contact the DVLA about driving licenses such as changing the home address on your driver’s licence, information about viewing or sharing the information on your drivers licence, tracking your drivers licence application, applying for your provisional drivers licence, replacing a lost, stolen or damaged driver’s licence and changing your name or other information on your drivers licence. A V5C log book is a document that contains all information relating to the registration of a vehicle and information about the vehicle itself such as registration dates, the vehicle’s manufacturer, the colour of the vehicle, the engine size of the vehicle and who the vehicles registered owner is. It is important to keep you V5C updated with information such as names, addresses, vehicle modifications or if you plan to sell the vehicle.
