Boots was established initially by its founder John Boot in 1849 when he opened a herbalist store in Nottingham. Following the death of John, his widow and children began trading as M and J Boot; Herbalists. It wasn’t until 1884 that Boots employed its first pharmacist and began offering a service for which it would eventually become widely known.

It has since diversified into several other areas of health and personal care; first with the research and manufacturing of drugs, followed by dentistry, eye care, toiletries and cosmetics. Today, the company boasts a range of services including on-site pharmacists in most stores, toiletries and sexual health clinics. You can also buy perfumes and food from many Boots stores in the UK.

There are almost 2500 Boots stores in the UK and Ireland, and 90 percent of the population is estimated to be within a ten-minute drive of a store. There are currently plans to open more Boots stores throughout the UK, with emphasis on their beauty range.

At Christmas, Boots are famous for their “3 for 2” range. This consists of gift sets being sold under the premise that if you buy three items in store or online, you will receive the third one for free effectively making the offer “3 for 2”. These items are usually marked by a small green logo depicted a Christmas present, and can be found in dedicated gift sections of your local Boots store.

The chain is renowned for many of its unique features such as the Boots Advantage points system; its charitable arm the Boots Charitable Trust, and some of its self-produced brands: Botanics, No.7; Soltan and Soap & Glory.

The Boots Advantage System is great if you shop at Boots on a regular basis, as you can gain points which you can then spend when you have enough on everyday items from the store. You can also split the price of your items over your points card, credit or debit card, and money.

The Boots Advantage System is great if you shop at Boots on a regular basis, as you can gain points which you can then spend when you have enough on everyday items from the store. You can also split the price of your items over your point’s card, credit or debit card, and cash.

You can get a Boots Advantage card by either visiting the Boots Advantage Card website or visiting your local Boots store. Advantage Cards are free to sign up for and use at your local, or any, Boots store. You can also use your Advantage Card online when making purchases on the Boots online store.

To use your advantage card, simply hand it in when at the till of your local Boots store. The cashier will then scan it and points will be added to your card. I have a pair of sunglasses from Boots and am very upset to find that the lacquer is peeling on the arms of the glasses making them look very unatractive and not wearable. I have part of the ref number on the inside of one of the arms of the glasses which is 60 76 602boots then it looks like 157, not sure as part of this has worn off.
I have only had these glasses for a relatively short time
Please advise what you can do as regards replacing them
Many thanks
